One-to-Web: How Merced Union High School District’s Innovative Approach to Learning Changed Everything

Merced Union High School District, a school district of 10,300 students spanning ten campuses, embarked on a three-year journey to prepare the community for one of the state of California’s largest and most successful digital learning deployments: a Chromebook in the hands of every student. As devices were added to the network, the incumbent firewall and webfilter were strained, leaving the District’s Information Technology (IT) team to consider a new security solution. Mr. Anthony Thomas, IT Manager, was tasked with keeping the network secure and operational, not easy with over 10,000 students on the network. After making the fiscally responsible decision to assess the costs of the district’s numerous security point solutions, Fortinet won the bake-off as the top security solution for their network.
